Meet the friendly staff at Weston Veterinary Hospital!
Dr. William Moodispaw is a veterinarian and the owner of Weston Veterinary Hospital. A native of St. Clairsville, OH. Dr. Moodispaw did his undergraduate studies at Ohio University, and continued his graduate studies at the college of veterinary medicine at Ohio State University. He graduated in 1980 with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from OSU. After graduation, William and Kathleen moved to Weston, WV, where he obtained a positon at the Weston Veterinary Clinic. In 1982 William purchased the practice from John Spiker, and has been at the Weston Veterinary Hospital for 37 years. Bill is a member of St. Patrick Church. He is an avid hunter and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren.
Dr. Barbara Hurst is an associate veterinarian at Weston Veterinary Hospital. She is a local to Weston graduating as valedictorian from Lewis County High School in 2002. She was first in her graduating class from Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, WV in 2006 when she completed her bachelor’s degree in Biology. She graduated with her doctorate from The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. “Doctor Barbie” lives in Weston with her husband Larry and her two children. When she’s not working, Barbie enjoys crafting, spending time with her kids, traveling, and going to the movies.
Renee Moodispaw is a veterinary technician and office manager at Weston Veterinary Hospital. She has been part of the practice for 20 years. Renee is a native of Webster County and graduated Webster County High School in 1994. Renee graduated in 1996 from Fairmont State College with her Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology. Renee is a mother to three children Drew, Katie, and Lukas. Renee works closely with All Mutts Matter Foundation, a dog rescue out of Wilmington, DE to help rescue and foster dogs in our area as well as other states. Fostering animals and saving lives is Renee’s passion.
Ellen Casto became a member of the Weston Veterinary Hospital family in 2014. She is registered veterinary technician. Ellen graduated from Fairmont State College with an allied health degree veterinary technology. She enjoys restoring her 1910 home, reading a good mystery, and hanging out with her grandsons Ian and Jake. Ellen lives in Weston with her husband Allen and their many pets.
Melinda Hicks is a registered veterinary technician and has been a member of Weston Veterinary Hospital since 2013. A native to Lewis County, Melinda graduated from Lewis County High School in 2011 and continued her education at Fairmont State College graduating with her Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology in 2014. Melinda’s hobbies include showing and training her walker coonhounds for coon hunting along with conformation and bench shows. She also enjoys deer hunting, coon hunting, and fishing.
Sharon Darling is the head receptionist at Weston Veterinary Hospital. As head of the front office, Sharon is in charge of scheduling, billing, and client relations. A native to Lewis County, Sharon graduated from Lewis County High School in 1985. Then went on to graduate from Glenville State College with a Bachelor in Behavioral Science and Minor in Criminal Justice. She has been a member of the Weston Veterinary Hospital since 2008. In her free time, Sharon enjoys exploring her family lineage/genealogy, fishing, and spending time with her family and pets.
Shawna Cogar is the newest addition to the Weston Veterinary Hospital team. A native of Weston, Shawna has worked in customer service for almost 15 years. As a receptionist at our hospital, Shawna is responsible for scheduling, billing, and client relations. At home Shawna enjoys the company of her miniature schnauzer Miley.
Tammy Arsenault is a kennel assistant responsible for cleaning, feeding, walking, and medicating patients and boarders. Originally from New Hampshire where her and her husband Jim have five children and six grandchildren. They now reside in Weston with their two dogs and are active parishioners of St. Patrick Church in Weston.
Arikka Smith is a kennel assistant at Weston Veterinary Hospital. She is responsible for feeding, walking and medicates boarders, if prescribed. Arikka is a 2017 graduate of Lewis County High School and will be attending Glenville State College with a major in Biology. Arikka enjoys spending time with her family and riding her horses.
Chasity Hicks is the weekend kennel assistant at Weston Veterinary Hopsital. She is responsible for feeding, walking, and medicates boarders as needed. Chasity also makes it available for pick-ups and drop offs during certain hours of her work days. Chasity is currently attending Davis and Elkins College to pursue a major in Biology. Chasity plans to attend veterinary school in the fall of 2019 to become a large and small animal veterinarian. Chasity enjoys anything outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and taking care of the animals on her farm.
Kathleen Moodispaw has been a business manager for the Weston Veterinary Hospital, since May of 1982. She was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio. She attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, then transferred to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Kathleen continued her education in West Virginia receiving her BA Degree in Education K-8, and Special Ed. K-12 from WV Wesleyan of Buckhannon, WV, in 1991. She received her BS Degree in Interior Design, and minors in art history and business in 2005, from WVU in Morgantown, WV. Kathleen and William have two sons, two daughter in-laws, and six grandchildren. Kathleen is active in the St. Patrick School and Church. She spends a lot of time with her grandchildren!
